Event Introduction
The VJ Golden Needle Grass Tai Mo Shan Trail Run will take place for the first time on November 8, 2025 (Saturday), starting at Golden Hill Road / Tai Po Road (the starting point of Section 6 of the MacLehose Trail). Sections 6 to 8 of the MacLehose Trail feature renowned natural landscapes, including Kin Shan, Needle Hill, Grass Hill, and Tai Mo Shan.Golden Hill is famous for its rocks and spectacular mountains, while Needle Hill is known for its sharp peak and unique shape. Grass Hill is celebrated for its lush greenery and fresh air, and Tai Mo Shan is the highest peak in the area, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding region from the summit. These landscapes create a magnificent natural panorama that captivates all who visit.
The race combines road running and trail running with concepts of nature education, and the race route will take you through verdant forests and stunning mountains. This section is filled with diverse terrain and scenery, allowing you to run freely in nature and experience its beauty and grandeur!
Race Route
The race will take place on Sections 6 to 8 of the MacLehose Trail, organized as a three-leg relay:
- First Leg: Section 6 of the MacLehose Trail (from Tai Po Road to the main dam of the Shing Mun Reservoir)
- Second Leg: Section 7 of the MacLehose Trail (from the main dam of the Shing Mun Reservoir to Lead Mine Pass)
- Third Leg: Section 8 of the MacLehose Trail (from Lead Mine Pass to Tai Mo Shan Rotary Park)
Race Features
The relay race consists of three categories:
- Mixed Relay: Three participants (male and female)
- Men’s Relay: Three male participants
- Women’s Relay: Three female participants
Race Date
- Date: November 8, 2025 (Saturday)
- Time: 11:00 AM
- Time Limit: 4 hours
Race Gifts
Participants will receive:
- Spider Golden Exclusive Race Shirt (one for each person)
- Personalized Name and Team Number Bib (one for each person)
- Timing Chip
- Relay Baton (one per team)
Finisher Gifts
- Electronic Certificate: Includes team and individual times.
- Refreshments: Light snacks, beer, and soft drinks will be available at the water stations and finish line.
Water Stations
- Locations: Shing Mun Reservoir Main Dam, Lead Mine Pass
- Offerings: Light snacks, beer, and soft drinks.
Age Limit
- Participants must be between 12 and 70 years old.
Participation Restrictions
- The same participant cannot not register for two teams or run different legs.
Registration Fee
- $750 per team
Awards
Each category will be divided into:
- Category 1: Total age of three participants is 130 years or younger.
- Category 2: Total age of three participants is 131 years or older.
Each category will award trophies and prizes for the top three teams.
Important Notes
- Participants must register according to their actual race leg and in order. Once registration is completed, the order cannot be changed. Participants must check in at the event according to the assigned leg order.
- Registration is non-refundable. If a team member needs to be changed, a fee of $200 will be charged for each replacement.
